the thing is… this is all capitalism but also bigger, like… a whole society built on trauma and bullshit. none of us are really fine. we keep losing each other more and more, connecting less and less. everything is money and status and “grow up, have kids someday, feed the stupid machine.”
people are dead inside. people are sad, they just drink to forget. it’s always been like this, but capitalism turned the volume up.
I feel like some people are waking up now, pushing back against it, even against “normal society” itself. maybe we can finally smash it and build something else… softer, deeper, a life without money, without all this bullshit. who knows.
but I know we have to find each other. if we don’t, we’re lost. especially now, when the internet is glitching and falling apart 🦋🖤
so I hope creatures like us find each other and connect a little. you’re not alone, ok 🥺🖤🦋
so well done!! i'm super new to substack and have been getting lost in the sea of endless amateur pieces, but this one has genuinely caught my eye and made me feel something. kudos!!
The way you write has this quality of dropping the reader into a moment of raw lucidity—almost like we’re looking out from inside the thought rather than at it. The philosopher Heidegger would call this dasein (being there). You are a very introspective person Mae.
I get this moment every year or however many months. I find stability again and pretend everything's fixed but nothing has changed.
